My Story

My life began in a small, rural town in the southwestern part of Virginia. Thankfully, my parents made a relationship with Christ a major emphasis for my brother and me as we were raised in a growing church nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. I was saved as part of this church's ministry during my childhood.

After graduating high school, I attended Virginia Tech, where I earned my bachelor's degree in 2019. God gracefully called me to ministry while serving as a discipleship leader at the Baptist Campus Ministries during my senior year of college. Around that same time, I met my wife, Maryanna, while training to facilitate conferences for The National FFA Organization. We were married and began sharing our lives two summers later.

Since then, God has blessed us with three children (two biological and one adopted). We have tried to be faithful to God's calling as we have served in various ministry contexts and positions. I have served as a pastor, youth pastor, and in other ministry positions; some with titles, some without. I am currently focused on using the gifts God has given me, which is why you are here reading this. I hope it helps.

Ministry Philosophy

I believe the gospel is meant to shape every area of life. My desire is to help people know God's Word, think biblically, and follow Christ faithfully in the ordinary moments of everyday life.

Philosophy & Mission

Writing Mission

I write to help ordinary Christians see that God's Word speaks to ordinary life. Through articles, book reviews, and biblical reflections, my hope is to encourage thoughtful faith that shapes everyday decisions, relationships, and priorities.

Family Ministry

We can be committed church-goers, passionate evangelists, and decisive missionaries. If we do all of these things without making the discipleship of our household a priority, we've missed the mark.

Statement of Faith

I believe that apart from Jesus, there is no way to God, in this life or in eternity. I believe Jesus, as God, took on a human body and lived a life as a human man. Unlike all other human men, Jesus lived His life on earth without ever sinning. Because Jesus was sinless, His voluntary sacrifice of death on a cross was enough to atone for the sins of humanity. If we give believe in who Jesus truly is and make Him lord of our lives, we can experience true joy in our lives and peace in heaven with God for all eternity.

I believe Scripture was given to us by God through the writings of biblical authors. Knowing this, I believe that Scripture is perfect. It contains no errors, mistakes, or contradictions. I believe that Scripture is the primary way God communicates to His people on earth. As such, we should believe and utilize the voice God gave us in His perfect words. All Scripture is useful and exists to provide help, healing, and guidance for us.

I believe that as Christians, we have a responsibility to
